A Taiwanese research organisation has been using the country’s scientific and technological resources to develop an AI solution to develop a new COVID-19 screening platform.
Working closely with Taiwan CDC and the country’s leading medical institutions, Taiwan AI Labs has developed the SARS-CoV-2 Classifier. The platform is designed to use thorax X-ray images to determine if candidates have pneumonia, then determine if they have COVID-19 or not.
Based on the results so far, the solution is capable of achieving 89% accuracy in identifying unique COVID-19 symptoms, such as pulmonary fibrosis, two to five days before official diagnoses are made. The platform only requires a chest X-ray is machine. Four medical centres in Taiwan have adopted the platform for their COVID-19 diagnostic procedures.
In the spirit of “Taiwan can help”, Taiwan AI Labs currently offers the SARS-CoV-2 Classifier free of charge to international requests.
Prior to SARS-CoV-2 Classifier, Taiwan AI Labs has developed AI malaria diagnostic system, AI sepsis detection system, and multiple COVID-19 applications and solutions, including the Taiwan social distancing app and Coronavirus drug screening.
