Putnam Plastics Corporation, a specialist in advanced extrusions and assemblies for minimally invasive medical devices, has completed construction on its latest state-of-the art expansion in Dayville, Connecticut.
The 57,000 square foot facility will be utilised as clean manufacturing space, increasing production capacity for both existing and new medical device customers. This new addition provides additional space for the company to continue to grow and support the needs of its partners within industry.
This expansion has been added onto the existing headquarters in Northeast Connecticut. Similar to the corporate headquarters, this space was designed specifically with Putnam’s medical device partners in mind, offering additional clean manufacturing space to expand their product lines. Several new extrusion lines, along with braiding and coiling machines to manufacture reinforced catheter shafts are examples of the new pieces of equipment that will be housed in this space.
Along with adding machinery and employees for additional production, by expanding the overall footprint of the headquarters, Putnam can keep everything under one roof. This means that its tooling room and engineering team are all located in the same building providing quicker overall lead times and speed to market. While the company expects to hire 100+ employees to fill positions that this expansion will provide, it is able to avoid unnecessary duplications in personnel that are common when creating new divisions in different locations. By adding onto the existing facility, Putnam aims to minimise logistical issues and increase overall efficiency.
Jim Dandenau, Putnam Plastics CEO, said: “We are excited to complete our new addition. This space will allow us to increase our capabilities in manufacturing as well as product development. We are committed to meeting our customers need to quickly develop complex components for life saving devices.”
