PAMA Manufacturing and Sterilization has announced the introduction of a new ethylene oxide (EO) sterilisation solution.
The company has developed a process for ethylene oxide (EO) sterilisation that is designed to be eco-efficient, cost-effective, and safe, while maintaining the sterility results of the traditional system.
Our engineering team has been working on this innovation since 2016, and in 2021 we successfully obtained ISO 11135 certifications for our sterilisation system. At PAMA, we believe in creating a sustainable solution for EO sterilisation is a matter of life.
Our engineering team has implemented a more efficient process by reducing the use of EO gas, resulting in a significant reduction of negative environmental impacts. In addition to using 50% less EO gas in our sterilisation cycle, our process handles EO in a responsible manner and recycles it. Our closed system captures any consumed EO and directs it to our in-house scrubber for the removal of harmful materials, effectively preventing the direct release of EO into the environment.
EO sterilisation has been used for medical devices since 1930 and currently, 50% of medical devices are sterilised using this method. However, in recent years, concerns have been raised about EO emissions from sterilisation facilities and their potential health effects on workers and nearby residents. Our solution addresses these concerns while ensuring the continued availability of safe, effective, and high-quality medical devices.
