The Acrotec Group pursues its strategy of developing its medtech division while increasing its presence in aerospace by acquiring Dawnlough, an Irish company specialising in high-precision machining skills.
Located in Galway, at the heart of one of the world's most important medtech clusters, where eight of the world's top ten medical technology companies already have a physical presence, Dawnlough becomes Acrotec Group’s 29th company.
François Billig, CEO of the Acrotec Group, said: “This strategic acquisition confirms our desire to balance the Group's different Divisions by strengthening our medtech and aeronautics competencies. We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with Dawnlough, as it is a company well known for its expertise in the design and production of tooling and components for medical devices, particularly in the cardiovascular and robotic surgery markets, at the centre of a medtech cluster where we are thus strengthening our presence following the acquisition of Takumi. It also enables us to develop our presence in the fast-growing aeronautics sector and completes our offer with Roch and Takumi".
Founded in 1987, Dawnlough has grown steadily since then, increasing its staff and industrial floor space over the years in Galway, thanks to its technological skills in the design and high- precision machining of difficult metals associated with very fine assembly, whether for tooling for the industrialisation of medical devices, components for these same devices or for aeronautics. Thanks to its design and prototyping capabilities, Dawnlough is Ireland's largest supplier of custom tooling. Its machining solutions address a wide range of products and projects, from rapid prototyping for R&D projects to scalable volume production of components and assemblies, all with a focus on impeccable quality.
Dawnlough managing director Brian McKeon said: "We are extremely privileged and proud to have the opportunity to join such a highly esteemed group as the Acrotec Group. Acrotec prides itself on upholding a set of fundamental principles, which include an entrepreneurial mindset, innovation, integrity, and independence. These values perfectly align with those of Dawnlough, making this partnership an ideal match. The collaboration between Dawnlough and Acrotec signifies a thrilling new chapter in our history that will undoubtedly bring added value and numerous opportunities for our valued customers."
