Mediplus, a leader in medical device innovation, has unveiled its pioneering 5-Way TIVA Set at SIVA 2024, the annual scientific meeting hosted by The Society for Intravenous Anaesthesia.
Held on 28th and 29th of November 2024 at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield, the event gathers experts from around the world to explore the latest advancements in intravenous anaesthesia.
As gold sponsors of the event, Mediplus showcased the new 5-Way TIVA Set, which it says is the first product of its kind on the market. This innovative set allows clinicians to administer up to four different drugs and an infusion through a single, integrated system.
By consolidating multiple drug lines into one streamlined hub, the 5-Way TIVA Set simplifies anaesthesia management, reduces the risk of leaks and blockages, and enhances overall patient safety.
Previously, managing multiple drugs in TIVA required numerous lines and connection points, which increased the risk of errors and complications. With the new design, the 5-Way TIVA Set eliminates the need for additional lines and taps, ensuring a cleaner, safer, and more efficient anaesthesia process. The system features Siamese tubing to prevent tangled lines and includes colour-coded lines for easy identification.
It represents a significant development in Mediplus’s range of TIVA sets.
Emma Gray at Mediplus said: "The 5-Way TIVA Set marks a significant leap forward in simplifying anaesthesia procedures and improving patient outcomes. Our goal is to make clinical workflows safer and more efficient, and this set embodies our commitment to that vision. It will not only reduce the complexity of TIVA management but also contribute to improved patient experiences by reducing risks like post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV).”
The set also features an anti-siphon valve to prevent backflow, as well as an anti-reflux valve to ensure fluid lines remain uncontaminated. Available in lengths of 2.5M and 3M, the 5-Way TIVA Set offers the flexibility to meet diverse clinical needs.
Mediplus continues to prioritise sustainability in its product designs. By reducing the number of lines required and minimising plastic content, the 5-Way TIVA Set contributes to both environmental sustainability and improved performance. This is in line with Mediplus's ongoing commitment to advancing healthcare while reducing its environmental footprint.
The launch of the 5-Way TIVA Set follows a history of innovation at Mediplus, which has been producing cutting-edge medical devices since its establishment in 1986. The company’s products are trusted across more than 40 countries and continue to set new standards in Critical Care and Pelvic Floor/Urology. Mediplus is also preparing to enter the US market in 2026, pending regulatory approval.
