Front Line Medical Technologies
Front Line Medical Technologies Inc, a leader in medical devices for emergency and trauma care, has announced that its COBRA-OS (Control of Bleeding, Resuscitation, Arterial Occlusion System) has been specially recognised in TIME’s Best Inventions of 2024.
The company says the COBRA-OS is the 'world's smallest' life-saving aortic occlusion device.
This accolade adds to the success for Front Line with this device, recently achieving CE marking to kick off international expansion beyond North America and acquiring an NSN number to improve NATO country military access to the COBRA-OS.
“Putting patients first through ongoing innovation is how we approach our work, and this is clearly evident in the unique technology behind the COBRA-OS,” said Dr. Asha Parekh, CEO of Front Line. “Being recognised by TIME in this way is a testament to all of our efforts, and we are excited for the future as we identify new innovations and strengthen what we can offer for patients.”
Due to its small size, the company says the COBRA-OS allows for rapid and precise deployment for quick intervention in critical situations, temporising patients and buying time until definitive care can be provided.
The COBRA-OS is currently being used in Level I Trauma Centers for non-compressible torso haemorrhage, by multiple military groups for pre-hospital injured soldier stabilisation, and prophylactically for high-risk pregnant patients to decrease bleeding and unplanned hysterectomies. It is also being investigated for non-traumatic cardiac arrest.
“Helping critical patients survive has been the driving force behind the development of the COBRA-OS and we have always believed that we should never be satisfied with current solutions,” said Dr. Adam Power, CMO of Front Line. “This special mention by TIME further validates the substantial strides we’ve made in our technology and inspires us never to give up the fight for better patient care.”
