Velentium, an engineering firm specialising in the end-to-end design, development, manufacturing, and post-market support of therapeutic and diagnostic active medical devices, has announced the recent hiring of a new chief financial officer. Travis Bird headlines changes to the leadership structure as the company continues to see significant growth since its founding a decade ago.

Dan Purvis, co-founder and CEO of Velentium, said: “Our company’s continued growth continues to be a testament to the endless commitment and dedication of Velentium staff to changing lives for a better world. Travis was an ideal fit to lead the next chapter of our financial journey, as he began his career as an entrepreneur. He has also held various financial and operational roles within emerging growth organisations, which is where his true passion lies. Travis has worked with half a dozen companies similar to Velentium and has an interest in technical subjects. Like many of us here, he started his college education in engineering.”
Bird arrives at Velentium after an already-robust 20+ year career in financial and public accounting. He holds his bachelor’s degree in Corporate Finance from Brigham Young University, his master’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and is a Certified Public Accountant. Travis has been the operational CFO for various venture capital/private equity-backed growth companies, where he has built multiple finance and accounting organisations and been responsible for the international expansion of a product sales company.
Travis Bird said: “When weighing new career opportunities, I evaluate three aspects: the people, the organisation’s vision and purpose, and whether the job will be both engaging and challenging. I look forward to building out a world-class finance accounting back office that is scalable. Additional changes to the leadership structure have been made to both the financial and technical teams. John McKnight has been promoted to director of firmware. McKnight has more than 30 years of development experience in multiple industries, with expertise in firmware, software, and hardware development, writing code, machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain development.
McKnight said: “I’m thrilled take on an elevated role with Velentium to drive technical development of employees, identify best practices, and improve firmware development efficiency.
