Smithers, a provider of testing, consulting, information, and compliance services, has appointed Gael Peron as president of Smithers Medical Device Testing Division.

As the president, Peron will provide direction and leadership to Smithers medical device and pharmaceutical testing laboratories in Akron, Ohio, USA and Shawbury, United Kingdom. These laboratories provide chemical analysis and physical and functional testing services for medical products including injectable devices like combination products, as well as single use technologies (SUTS) and parenterals.
The chemical analysis laboratory performs extractables and leachables testing programs designed to fulfil the global regulatory requirements for container systems and materials. The physical and functional laboratory offers standard and non-standard medical device testing on a wide range of drug delivery devices, accessories, and packaging to ensure products are compliant and fit for use.

Peron joined Smithers in 2020 as the vice president of the Medical Device Testing Division. He has over 18 years of experience bringing medical products and devices to market. He holds a Master’s of Science in biotechnology from the graduate school ENSTBB Bordeaux and worked previously at Sartorius Stedim Biotech and Charter Medical.
