Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP, secretary of state for international trade and president of the Board of Trade, opened this year’s Medilink North of England Healthcare Business Awards as the company celebrated its 25th Anniversary.
Addressing the event via a recorded video, Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP praised the applicants, saying:
“As the secretary of state for international trade, I am proud to champion our leadership and to support the prime minister’s challenge for the UK to be a global science superpower. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, I am reliably informed that the quality and the range of applicants for this year’s awards has been outstanding.”
The annual event, held on 12th May in York, brought together life sciences and medtech organisations from across the North of England to celebrate their successes over the past 12 months. Despite the challenges of the last two years, there have been fantastic achievements made across the sector which has seen a significant number of organisations collaborate and improve patient care.
Winners were announced across nine categories and included several prominent companies across the North, such as QuantuMDx Group, GBUK Group, Synopsis Health, Inhealthcare, Neotherix, Circular1 Health, LightOx, Eventum Orthopaedics and Paxman.
Tom Elliott, managing director of Medilink, spoke of the awards ceremony: “Huge congratulations to all of the shortlisted organisations, and especially to the winners at this year’s awards. It was a privilege to join these companies and celebrate their achievements as well as the phenomenal 20-year commitment made to Medilink as chairman of the board by Gareth Lloyd-Jones.”
The evening took on a double celebration as Medilink celebrated its 25th anniversary of promoting the sector's excellence in the North and bringing the region's talents and innovations in healthcare and life sciences together.
From their beginnings in 1992 to being incorporated as a limited company in 1997, Medilink has set out to improve patient care by connecting the NHS, academia and industry together.
Speaking of the anniversary, Tom said, “This 25-year anniversary marks a celebrated milestone for the company. Medilink was incorporated 25 years ago and our longevity is ensured by the organisations’ responsiveness to the needs of the sector.
“The continued focus on transforming healthcare through sector-specialist support is something that Medilink has succeeded in delivering for the last quarter century and something that I am proud to have been a part of and committed to sustaining for many years to come.”
