Select companies will join the Department for International Trade (DIT) at the UK Government's pavilion, showcasing the strengths of UK healthtech, innovation and research, and underlining the UK’s position as a world-leading life sciences sector.
For visitors to the show, the DIT Pavilion will provide a hub of innovative talent from the UK, with access to some of the latest life sciences and medical developments and a chance to evaluate potential investments, all in one location.
The UK companies attending will have access to DIT experts who will provide sector-specific advice and guidance to help them take full advantage of the event. Delegates will benefit from one-to-one meetings with DIT officers, advice, and invitations to key networking events.
DIT commercial officers based around the world will also be delivering pre-MEDICA market briefings to provide overviews of their specific markets, including assessment of demands and details of access routes. These briefings are open to any businesses looking to enter new overseas markets and can be accessed here.
Dr Aphrodite Spanou, interim director for science & technology at the DIT, said: “We are excited to welcome our delegates to MEDICA 2022. The UK’s healthcare and life sciences businesses have so much to offer to international markets, thanks to their advanced, forward-thinking innovations. Our experts will be delighted to support companies in discovering and entering new markets to help them take their medical solutions overseas.
“Last year’s exhibition was a success, taking into account the disruption in travelling and international trade in the previous years. As the hunger for exploring overseas markets has sparked even more, we are expecting this year to be bigger and busier – which we are looking forward to!”
The DIT Scotland team will also be present at MEDICA, talking to attendees about the strength of the sector north of the border. Scotland is home to 15% of the UK’s healthtech, pharmatech and wellbeing companies, 10% of biopharma, therapeutics and vaccines companies and 31% of cleanbio, and industrial biotechnology companies. With Edinburgh and Glasgow also listed in the top five locations in the UK for life sciences start-ups, the sector is set to continue its recent growth in Scotland.
The four-day exhibition will provide the platform for medtech professionals seeking to break into new markets, launch new products, enhance their existing international presence, and reach industry experts and decision makers at a single event.
