AcuityMD, a leading technology provider to the MedTech industry, has announced the launch of AcuityMD Care Journeys to help MedTech companies efficiently bring their innovations to the right patients by harnessing longitudinal, patient-level data for more precise targeting.
The company says that Care Journeys empowers commercial teams to demonstrate the value of their products to physicians, hospitals, and independent delivery networks (IDNs), driving revenue and improving patient care.
If a MedTech company is launching a new device or running a clinical trial, Care Journeys uncovers and prioritises opportunities to treat patients with complex clinical histories. AcuityMD says that Care Journeys affords MedTech teams accuracy and precision when identifying patient populations that can benefit the most from their innovation, especially groups with comorbidities, dual diagnoses, or at the intersection of multiple conditions and procedures.
Early adopter icotec Medical is using Care Journeys to uncover sites-of-care that treat patients with spinal tumours as well as the spine surgeons and radiation oncologists that treat them. icotec makes a unique carbon composite surgical screw for patients suffering from metastatic spine disease.
These radiolucent, non-metallic screws produce little-to-no artifact in diagnostic imaging such as computer tomography (CT) scans and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which leads to safer delivery of adjuvant radiation therapy and improved monitoring and follow-up care. icotec has also been approved for a new indication for spinal infections and has leveraged Care Journeys to create its commercialisation strategy, inform decisions on head count and manufacturing, identify partner sites of care, and more as it prepares for launch.

Synchron Inc. is leveraging Care Journeys to identify and enrol patients in a pre-clinical trial for its brain-computer interface (BCI) that allows paralysed patients to control digital outputs, providing a breakthrough treatment for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) patients. With the next trial starting in 2025, Synchron faced challenges efficiently identifying the right ALS patients for trial participation.
