MedTech skills training entrepreneur Margot Cooper was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire [OBE] in the King’s New Years Honours List for services to 3D Medical Simulation Training through the company she launched in 1990, Limbs and Things.
The business enabled clinicians to move away from training on corpses and animals, through the development of a series of anatomically accurate and cost-effective alternative devices and digital options to help students become more competent and confident learners.
Also receiving the OBE is Dr Gail Miflin, Chief Medical Officer, NHS Blood and Transplant, for services to Blood and Plasma Services.
Honours were also awarded to Dr Jocelyn Cornwell, lately Chair, Action Against Medical Accidents, for services to Patients' Experience of Care and to Patient Safety; Dr Lisa Cotterill, Executive Director, National Institute for Health Research Academy, for services to Health Research; Professor Sneh Khemka, Surgeon and Chair of workforce health screening business, Qured, for services to Healthcare, to Science, and to Innovation and Technology; and to Susan Daley, Director, Tech and Innovation, techUK, for services to the Technology Industry who was recognised alongside techUK’s Chief Executive Officer, Julian David.
Included in the list were Dr Kerrie Davies, recently Lead Scientific Advisor, Technologies Validation Group, UK Health Security Agency, for services to Healthcare Science; along with many senior academics, clinicians and medical researchers.
